The formal courtesy of the DoJang can come as a surprise, particularly for small children still learning to say “please” and “thank you.” We bow when we enter or leave the school and the DoJang. We bow to seniors and instructors. They bow to us. These courtesies focus our attention on the task at hand, which is the study of Tae Kwon Do. Don’t be surprised if your child becomes more polite and respectful, even as he or she learns spectacular kicks and punches. Our strict discipline makes this a happy place. We encourage students to have fun and enjoy themselves — we just require that they act with consideration and respect at all times. We’d be happy to provide you with a list of our school regulations when you visit. |
